It’s no doubt that our country and the world is filled with hero’s. In every day life, they stand out simply because they stand for something and they take action. Be they professional Hero’s such as Police, Fire and Rescue Personnel, Teachers, Doctors, Nurses and our Service Men and Women, or regular everyday folk, Hero’s do exist.
Today I am taking time to honor one of my Hero’s. The Hero I speak of doesn’t have one of those professional Hero jobs. She isn’t someone you’d see and automatically recognize as a hero – but that doesn’t make her any less of one. I’ve watched as she has taken a stand against some mighty foes. Her Ex being one of the biggest. When the nasty got worse an worse she stayed in the thick of things, never gave up and worked like all hell to rescue her son from it all. I’ve watched her save the lives of some folk who are very near and dear to me. Were it not for her, some of them would not be alive today. And in truth she has saved my life more then once as well.
I’m betting anyone a million dollars she be saying right now she is NO Hero. She’d be wrong, because like it or not, accept it or not, she truly is. She will go through Hell’s gates for those she loves, thinking not of herself but of others. She will sit and listen when things have oppressed me so much I have no words so there is dead silence between our phones, and when it is time to laugh, she joins me in the deepest, tear making laughter and she never thinks to do otherwise.
Watching her go through her life while still putting herself aside long enough to help each of us who has called out to her, makes her the best kind of Hero. She’s a real, live, honest to goodness, everyday Hero, and she’s my best friend too.
If your ever in San Fransisco and taking the BART and you see a brilliantly tall brunette dancing as she listens to her Ipod, take another look at her. You are in the presence of a true red, white and blue Hero – isn’t she beautiful?
Sarie, there are almost 1300 birthday wishes and hugs and loving being sent your way today. I have countless…….and I do mean countless messages to pass along to you but there would not be enough time or blog to write them all down. But here are some of them just so you get an idea of what is REALLY thought of you.

“When everyone saw me as a child, she saw me for who I am. I only hope I can learn that from her.”
So you see……. I could just keep going and going and going ……
Now this is the part where I leave my quote for you. It may not be much – but it’s the truth. *shrug*
